Verdict: As a group, Jumbo’s over a $1bn business comes from retail, systems integration, IT services and volume distribution. Jumbo IT Distribution’s decision to add new brands and expand its channel base by 20% has paid off as the company increased its sales by 16% to post a solid YoY growth in 2012.

What are your strategic plans for the rest of 2013?

We plan to expand our presence aggressively in both, the tablet and smartphone category. Consequently, we have signed an exclusive distributorship for HP tablets, expanded the Acer tablet array and are also the exclusive distributor of Simmtronics’ XPad tablet.

What were the main drivers for your revenue growth in 2012?

Our key drivers for revenue growth in 2012 can be attributed to the initiatives within the power retail channel where we increased HP’s market share for its laptop business. We also extended Acer’s share for notebooks within the power retail channel.

Has the distribution sector recovered from the market instability in the region?

In our view it has as the distribution sector is emerging to be more stable than the position it found itself in three years ago due to mismatched inventory. Business predictability is also improving.

What will drive your business growth in 2013?

Our strategies for business growth in 2013 will focus on strengthening our tablets, smartphones and accessories portfolio.
