The ACN Enterprise Computing Summit 2013 got off to a lively start this morning with a discussion on translating the hype into practical benefits and tangible RoI, moderated by Munir Majdalawieh - Enterprise Computing coordinator at the College of Technological Innovation, Zayed University.

The discussion, which featured Vaibhav Bhatt, Infrastructure Service manager, DHL Express, Arun Tewary,  vice president, IT & CIO, Emirates Flight Catering, and Ian Cook, VP CIO & head Of Operations, Oman Insurance Company looked at how the CIO balances technology implementation requests or denials from the CEO and corporate management, as well as the realities and practicalities of implementing new technologies for the best RoI.

This informative and interesting session was followed by three round tables, focusing on security, cloud and IT strategy through analytics respectively.

The security discussion was chaired by Bahaa Hudairi, senior security consultant Middle East and McAfee and looked at the challenges of BYOD for the enterprise, as well as how important employee education is in the fight against corpiorate cyber attacks.

The cloud session was chaired by Thameem Rizvon, IT Director, KOJ Group, and looked at the practicalities and benefits of cloud adoption in the region; and the IT strategy through analytics round table was chaired by Kumar Prasoon - Group CIO, Safeer Group.

The conference, which spanned the morning and early afternoon brought together scores of CIOs, CTOs and senior IT manager to discuss in-depth the trends and trials of their industries, as well as to discuss proven strategies and working examples of the best cost saving, technology integrating and operationally efficient practices in the Middle East.
