Prestigio unveils next-gen MultiPad tablet The MultiPad 2 Ultra Duo 8.0 3G runs Google Android 4.1 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Prestigio this week introduced its latest tablet, the MultiPad 2 Ultra Duo 8.0 3G, which the company said is designed for power users.

Featuring Google Android 4.1 Ice Cream Sandwich, the 8-inch tablet is powered by a Cortex A9 1.2GHz dual-core processor and a PowerVR SGX531 dual-core GPU for images processing.

The tablet's IPS display runs at a native resolution of 1024 x 768 and the device has a three-way G-sensor to allow for responsive screen rotation and gesture-based gaming, while a GPS receiver and FM Radio also feature on the device for on-the-go consumers.

The tablet weighs in at 435g and is preloaded with a host of Google apps, office apps and games, as well as the latest version of Prestigio's own e-reader 3.0 app. The latest version of the app gives users direct access to "one of the largest online stores of electronics books, The Prestigio Plaza which contains more than 620,000 e-books in 17 categories and 22 languages", according to Prestigio. The reader supports HTML, PDF, EPUB, RTF, TXT formats with Adobe DRM. The Prestigio eReader 3.0 application with support of the Adobe DRM format can also be downloaded for free at www.prestigio.com and the Google Play Market Catalog.

Available in black and white, the MultiPad 2 Ultra Duo offers 8GB of onboard memory. A micro SD memory card slot allows consumers to add an additional 32GB of capacity. On registering the device users also get 5GB of free cloud storage. The tablet comes with 3G data connectivity, as well as phone and messaging when fitted with a SIM card. Bluetooth and WiFi radio is also included.

A front-facing 3-megapixel camera allows users to make video calls, while a rear-facing 2-megapixel camera supports social photography and videography. The tablet ships with a leather case and is covered by a two-year warranty.

The MultiPad 2 Ultra Duo 8.0 3G is available at all leading retailers across the UAE and costs 899 AED.
