Abu Dhabi's Department of Transport (DoT) has announced a new Crash Analysis and Reporting System (CARS), which is intended to provide analysis of accident data and other information to improve road safety in the Emirate.

The solution was developed by the British Transport Research Laboratory, along with DoT and the Abu Dhabi Police, and will provide engineering analysis capabilities to assess accidents data and information related to road safety.

The system will also include analysis of data such as traffic density information; speed data and road assets, along with social data, to identify trends and patterns of road safety and traffic accidents.

CARS will also integrate data from other databases, both existing and planned, and has been linked with Abu Dhabi Police systems to automatically provide traffic accident data. CARS will cost around AED 3.4m, ($920,000).
