Huawei opens IT Competence Center in Bahrain Huawei's IT Competence Center will aim to encourage development of the sector in the region.

Huawei has opened its first Middle East IT Competence Center in Bahrain.

The centre will aim to develop competencies in the IT and telecoms sector in the region, and will also act as an excellence hub for innovation, according to the company.

Huawei also plans to work with universities and education institutions in Bahrain, to work on training programs and global research projects. The company's Middle East headquarters is also in Bahrain.

"Huawei Global Competence Centers are an innovative component of Huawei's global strategy to provide ICT industry leaders with reliable and consistent service anywhere anytime," said. Shi Yaohong, president of Huawei Middle East. "Huawei has recently set up similar regional hubs in countries such as USA, India and China, and we believe Bahrain is one of the important strategic markets within the Middle East region given its widespread investments in the fields of education and support for cutting-edge communication networks."
