UAE iPhone 5 users get LTE access The iPhone 5 came to the UAE in December.

UAE iPhone 5 users in can now make use of the device's full LTE capabilities.

UAE telcos, Etisalat and du, both said that their customers would be able to access their LTE networks this week.

"The iPhone 5 is LTE-enabled to offer customers an enhanced mobile data experience on the UAE's first and widest 4G LTE network," Etisalat said in a statement released on Tuesday.

"Running on iOS 6.1, connection to the LTE architecture now allows iPhone 5 to offer high-speed applications and processes."

The UAE's mobile operators launched pre-paid and post-paid packages for the iPhone 5 ahead of its official release on December 14.

Etisalat and Du allowed customers to pre-order the iPhone 5 from December 9, starting at AED2,749 (US$748.40) for the 16GB model.
