Samsung Electronics this week announced the commercial availability of the Galaxy Camera in the UAE.

The Samsung Galaxy Camera is designed for a combination of high-performance photography features, the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system and 3G/Wi-Fi connectivity to create "the world's first truly connected camera".

"The Galaxy Camera ushers in a new era of visual communications, allowing users to shoot, enjoy, edit and share high quality images and video from anywhere, at any time through a single device," said Samsung.

"We are proud and excited to introduce the Samsung Galaxy Camera to our regional consumers," said Raj Varma, general manager of IT division Samsung Gulf Electronics.

"It offers the performance of a professional, high-end camera and the freedom of mobile connectivity on an Android platform, heralding a new era of visual communications.

"The device brings together everything that is wonderful about photography on a dedicated camera, with the ease-of-use of smartphones. The Samsung Galaxy Camera truly marks a new era of the connected camera."

The device is geared towards shooting easy pro-like shots and high-impact videos and instantly sharing them on online platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and the pre-installed Instagram app.

The camera includes a 21x zoom lens; a 16M BSI CMOS sensor; Samsung's Smart Mode technology - a series of 15 default modes and settings designed for different environmental conditions; a 4.8-inch HD Super Clear Touch Display; and onboard tools for professional photo editing.

The whole setup is powered by a quad-core processor and the Android OS means access to over 600,000 apps currently available on Google Play. In addition, users have access to over 150,000 apps on the Samsung App Store. The Android operating system also full browsing support and users can customise the camera to suit specific needs.

The Samsung Galaxy Camera is currently available in retail stores across the UAE with retail prices starting at AED 1,999.
