Apple has announced that its iPhone 5 will officially go on sale in the Gulf from 14th December.

iPhone 5 will go on sale in Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE from that date.

The phone, previously only available from grey market retailers, will be on sale at the Apple Online Store (www.apple.com/ae), and select Apple Authorized Resellers.

No retail pricing was given for the phone, which is the thinnest and lightest iPhone ever releases. iPhone is available in black and slate or white and silver in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models.

Apple has also launched new local online iTunes Stores for a number of countries in the region, including Saudi Arabia, Oman, Jordan, Bahrain, Egypt and the UAE.

The country stores offer local and international music from all the major labels and thousands of independent labels.

The new launches were part of a raft of 56 new iTunes Stores for specific countries, taking the number of iTunes Stores to 119 worldwide.

A new version of the iTunes application was released at the end of November.
