Global energy management specialists Schneider Electric have announced the launch of a virtual Professional Energy Manager (PEM) certification on its online, vendor-neutral Energy University.

The programme was developed in cooperation with the Institute of Energy Professionals (IEP), the longest running energy education programme in the US, and is designed to give energy-focused individuals across the world an option to earn a credential in energy management.

The Professional Energy Manager Certification is designed to provide individuals with the training required to be successful in this field – and offer proof of their capabilities.

“Energy University is thrilled to offer online PEM certification. We are especially pleased to have developed the offer in conjunction with the Institute of Energy Professionals, an organization renowned for providing the best in practical energy management training and technical assistance. The unique opportunity represents another Energy University milestone in helping professionals expand their skill sets, improve career prospects, and promote effective solutions to help their companies be more efficient and sustainable,” said Susan Hartman, global manager, Customer Education, Schneider Electric.

Energy University’s PEM online certification features flexible class schedules, free tuition, and a self-paced curriculum that is designed to be able to reduce programme learning length. As an added convenience, professionals may complete and purchase the PEM certification exam online through Energy University.

“IEP is pleased to partner with Schneider Electric to expand energy management training opportunities. We firmly believe that there will be an ever-increasing need for such expertise as we strive to better manage our energy resources,” said Thomas D Mull PE, PEM, Co-founder of IEP.

Energy University prepares students for the exam via a proprietary learning path comprising free, self-paced, on-demand courses in 12 languages. The topics covered include identifying and prioritising efficiency opportunities through qualification of data and assembling the resources needed to define, sell, and implement an efficiency solution.
