Du goes green with Heliocentris deal Du announced a deal that will see it boost the efficiency of its cell sites.

UAE Telcom operator du plans to increase the effiency of its network in a bid to cut carbon emissions to protect the environment.

The telco announced that it has signed a deal with Heliocentris to increase the number of Genset Efficiency energy management systems and monitoring solutions in its mobile base stations, during GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK.

The announcement coincides with du’s support of the upcoming World Energy Forum as a lead sponsor.

Present at the signing were Farid Faraidooni, Chief Commercial Officer, du, Ayad Abul-Ella, CEO, Heliocentris, Jasem Al Marzouki, Senior Director, Civil and Electromechanical, du, and Michael Kutschenreuter, General Manager Middle East and Africa, Heliocentris.

“We have selected Heliocentris for its experience in the field and proven track results. Sustainability is a cornerstone of our business strategy, and we are proud to have achieved reductions of 60% in fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions from the BTS solutions installed so far,” says Farid Faraidooni.

“We are expanding the number of green solutions in our network to contribute to the UAE leadership’s vision of a green economy.”

Ever since the signing of the initial agreement with Heliocentris to implement Genset Efficiency solutions, du has made significant strides in its efforts to be more environmentally friendly.

Some of its achievements using Genset Efficiency include: 60% savings in fuel consumption and carbon dioxide  emissions, and 70% savings in generator running hours and consequent reduction in maintenance requirements and noise pollution.
