Data replication not rocket science Martinez: Double Take makes data protection easy and affordable.

Vision Solutions is promoting the ease of use of its high availability and disaster recovery solutions at the show this year. The company is showcasing the latest version of its application and data protection software, Double Take 6.0, which offers asynchronous data replication for physical, virtual, and cloud environments.

Henry Martinez, Vice President for Sales Engineering at Vision Solutions, says the company has simplified the user interface of the solution, so there is just one interface for all operating systems, to reduce user training requirements, and has also been optimized for bandwidth-efficiency, to minimise the cost of remote data replication.

Vision Solutions has also been working with channel partners to ensure they are able to deliver on the solutions.

“It is not rocket science any more, we have simplified it, we have made it hardware agnostic, we have made it storage agnostic and we are putting it within the reach of the partners in the region so they feel comfortable with the skills required to deliver and deploy it,” he says. Martinez says that recent cyber attacks in the region have increased the need for disaster recovery solutions, as part of a holistic approach to business continuity. Recent figures from IDC suggest that close to 50% of businesses that lose data during a disaster never reopen; and Double-Take can ensure that if a company is compromised, then it is able to restore its data to a point before it was compromised with zero downtime migration.

“These are the kind of disruptions that our software specifically protects against. The security companies are trying to build a wall around the company, but when something does get in and makes a mess what we allow them to do is to restart their business and keep going,” he says.

The company has signed the Saudi Motor Vehicle Periodic Inspection (MVPI) organisation, which says the solutions help ensure always-on connectivity for its testing centres. “Thanks to Double-Take, we are now much more confident about the continuity of our local operations because we know that everything is fully protected,” says Raed Al Zubaidi, IT Director, MVPI.
