Shifra: Security now a key concern Security now a C-Level concern.

Value added security distributor Shifra is making its debut at GITEX Technology Week, to indentify new resellers and vendor partners for the Middle East & Africa region.

The distributor, which was established 2007, is seeking new resellers to meet growing demand for network security solutions.

Ahmad Ellkhatib, managing partner of Shifra, said that recent cyber attacks that have targeted organisations, including oil companies in the Middle East, have raised awareness of the need for better security solutions.

“With the recent attacks on the oil companies in the region, targeted attack protection has become one of the hottest solutions in the region right now, also things like protection from advanced attacks, and also bring your own device (BYOD) and solutions to be able to access your network securely,” he says.

“It has created awareness of the information security function at the C-Level, before it was a concern of the IT department, now it is a bigger concern, which is something that should help in getting budgets and increase spending for the next few tears,” he adds.

Elkhatib says the company shifted focus from security consulting to product distribution, to enable it to increase its ability to scale and reach new markets, and GITEX Technology Week provides the right forum to establish relationships with new markets.

“With the need to reach the wider Middle East and Africa market, we decided that GITEX is the best platform to reach that wide geographical region.”

Shifra is highlighting solutions from its key vendor partners at GITEX, including Stonesoft for network security, Proofpoint for email security and targeted attack protection, Gemalto for secure authentication and Centrify for identity management.

The company is looking to add new vendors to its product mix, in particular wireless security, where Elkhatib says there is a growing demand to enable secure wireless connectivity.

Great article. Security is definitely a key concern. Especially with all the recent high-profile breaches, it is more important now, than ever before, for everyone to place a priority on security.
