Princess Nora Bint Abdul Rahman University (PNU) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has completed implementation of Banner by Ellucian, a communication and collaboration platform developed specifically for secondary and higher education institutes.

Ellucian said the installation was "creating a digital environment that is helping connect the campus community and enable collaboration among students, faculty, and staff." Other solutions from the US-based integrators are helping the university use data more effectively. Saudi Business Machines (SBM) acted as system integrator for the project.

Her Excellency Dr Huda Mohammad Al Ameel, Rector of Princess Nora Bint Abdul Rahman University, said, "Having created the world's largest women-only university at PNU, our ambition is to become a globally recognised first-rate institution, and we are engaging leading technology solution providers such as Ellucian to help us achieve our goals."

The Banner platform enables inter-departmental interaction and facilitates educational service delivery to over 40,000 system-registered students, who can search and register for classes by term or date, as well as retrieve relevant data online.

Faculty members can easily manage course information, rosters, and grading, as well as advise students from remote locations.

In addition to Banner Student, PNU implemented Banner Financial Aid, Banner Operational Data Store, and Banner Enterprise Data Warehouse, meeting reporting requirements in Arabic and English.

"Princess Nora University has an essential mission in educating and empowering Saudi women to engage in the socio-economic advancement of the country, and Ellucian is delighted to be part of this important initiative," said Mathew Boice, vice president, EMEA and India, Ellucian.

"We are now supporting four women-only universities in the region and have localised our solutions to meet the needs of the higher and vocational education sector in Saudi Arabia; It is part of our commitment to helping the region transform education in order to achieve a knowledge-rich future,"
