Zain announced today that it has selected Ericsson to renovate its network with a view to lubricating the shift to 4G/LTE services and beyond.

A study by Arab Advisors Group listed Jordan as one the fastest growing smartphone markets in the Middle East at 41.6% of mobile users.

The five-year contract with Ericsson, which also includes charging solutions and related services, is expected to cover short-term capacity requirements as well as future-profing Zain's infrastructure.

"With this upgrade our individual customers will enjoy bundled voice and data services with tailored offering and controlled spending. Our enterprise customers will enjoy our integrated services with flexible, tailored and bundled offers," said Ahmad Al Hanandeh, CEO Zain Jordan.

"Having the right partner is the backbone of every successful project and based on Ericsson's track record as well as its reputation and credibility in the region, we are positive that they will not only meet our current needs but will allow us to be ready for any future plans or requirements for optimization.

"We are pleased to have been selected by Zain Jordan to implement this project," said Tarek Saadi, president and head of Ericsson North Middle East.

"With Zain Jordan's rapidly growing customer base; we understand that their adoption for cutting-edge solutions and enhancement of their existing infrastructure are a must. We are positive that this project will not only simplify their operations and expedite new service introduction but will also help Zain Jordan provide personalised services and customer care which will, as a result, increase customer satisfaction and loyalty levels."
