CompTIA, a non-profit trade association advancing the global interests of IT professionals and companies, has unveiled the CompTIA Academy Program in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.

The IT trade association, which focuses on four main areas including education, certification, advocacy and philanthropy, says the CompTIA Academy Partner Program is a robust educational initiative designed to assist academic institutions, non-profit organisations and government retraining agencies to extend the reach and impact of their curricula for students pursuing careers in the technology sector.

Mark Plunkett, director, Emerging Markets, Europe and Middle East region, said the goals of the CompTIA Academy Partner Program are four-fold and focuses on supplying the workforce with skilled professionals, preparing students for IT careers, supporting educational organisations and offering a robust portfolio of IT curricula.

"Secondary schools, colleges and universities, not-for-profit educational institutions and Government-funded educational agencies qualify to participate in the CompTIA Academy Partner Program," he said.

Plunkett added that the CompTIA Academy Partner Program provides substantial incentives and resources to help Academy Partners. "Administrators and instructors have access to tools to help them plan, prepare and deliver an IT curriculum that will equip students with the necessary IT knowledge and skills for a successful IT career path," he said.

Plunkett explained that the programme also provides discounts on certification exam vouchers, marketing tools and resources, access to industry research and other business improvement resources, complimentary product training, practice tests and exam vouchers for instructors.

In addition, Plunkett said the programme offers access to the CompTIA IT Pro Community, a blogging and forum site designed specifically for IT professionals where students can go to learn from industry experts.

According to CompTIA, the partner programme is now available to organisations in Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Yemen.
