TrustPort has released a new mobile application to provide encryption of SMS and emails sent from mobile devices.

The Skytale app, which is available for Android, iPhone and OS X, provides 256-bit AES encryption, for secure messaging between phones and computers. The solution is intended to keep messages secret from everyone, including the mobile operator, to help guard against data theft and fraud.

The free solution can encrypt up to six SMSs, or 960 characters at once, can send encrypted messages to multiple recipients and is compatible with most email clients.

The solution has been designed with a simple user interface. It is available from iTunes and Google Play, and as part of TrustPort Internet Security, TrustPort Total Protection and TrustPort Tools.

"Not everyone is aware that it is possible that their own mobile phone can be tapped without even knowing it and you do not even have to be connected to the internet. Sending sensitive information via SMS or email is often too risky. There are lots of spy applications and software available, which can monitor users' activity on mobile phones or over the Internet. That is why we decided to offer a free security solution which will be available to anyone who does not want to have their SMS or emails tapped. Our powerful Skytale application can for example ensure confidentiality for every businessman, who is used to sending sensitive data via SMS or email," said Marcela Parolkova, sales director at TrustPort.
