Axiom stores in the UAE will be the first to receive the ASUS/Google Nexus 7.

The Nexus 7 is touted as a value proposition for users looking to experience working with a tablet. It has a Tegra 3 quad-core processor mated with 1GB of RAM and Android OS 4.1.

The 7-inch screen boasts a 1280x800p HD display and features scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass. The tablet also has a 1.2MP front-facing camera for video chat, though regrettably, it does not feature a rear facing camera.

"At Axiom Telecom we do our utmost to stay attuned to the needs of our customers," said Faisal Al Bannai, CEO, Axiom Telecom.

"The Middle East is one of the most tech-savvy nations in the world and the demand for the latest and greatest devices is extraordinary. We are thriving because we offer an unrivalled online and in-store service experience that brings people the products they want, without delay or compromise," he added.

At the time of writing, the Nexus 7 was not available in Axiom's stores. We were advised by their call centre that it would be in stock in one week.

Pricing of the 8GB Nexus 7 is AED 1,099($300) and the 16GB version will retail for AED 1,299($350). That is $100 more than prices in the US.

Axiom Telecom has 575 retail locations and 3,742 points of sale across the region.
