What were the company’s milestones in 2011?
Aptec consolidated its VAD products for ‘smart’ solutions and increased its services offering through Advanced Logistics Services (ALS). We also raised our profile in the area of partner training through ATS Training Centres and ATS Consulting Services.
What are your strategic plans for the rest of 2012?
We plan to continue increasing our footprint in the Middle East and Africa region, adding key vendors for smart solutions in the process. We will be introducing the Aptec Cloud to the channel later this year.
What is the most pressing distribution issue at the moment in the region?
I have to say that qualifying and enabling channel partners for value-added product sales is a pressing issue in the regional channel at present.
Has the Middle East distribution sector recovered from the global economic meltdown of three years ago?
Definitely in our sector which addresses value addition to SMBs and SMEs the market has picked-up tremendously across the region.
Verdict: As one of the longest serving IT distributors in the region, Aptec has continued to demonstrate leadership, market knowledge and understanding of what VAD is all about. Last year, the company grew its value business by 40%. Aptec has managed to changeover from pure broadline distribution to embrace value solutions that empower partners.
