Shihab Khalil - CEO, ZagTrader
Nurturing the market
ZagTrader aims to provide an online trading platform with a difference. ZagTrader has developed an online trading platform that local banks and brokerages can license, rebrand and supply to their own clients. The advantage of ZagTrader over competitors, according to CEO, Shihab Khalil, is that it is not merely an engine for executing trades.
It offers social elements, the market data within the package is Arabised and it provides analytics designed to help investors make decisions. Commodities, futures, forex and stocks can all be bought and sold through ZagTrader.
“We offer a world-class platform tailor-made for the local market,” says Khalil, a veteran of GBM and Batelco Jordan. “International suppliers would not provide the regional information, localisation and compliance with local regulations that we provide.”
Development of ZagTrader began in 2009 and was completed in late 2011. The company has 15 employees, spread throughout offices in Jordan, Philippines and Dubai. All software development and content localisation is done by the company.
