Barclays Bank customers in the UAE will now be able to access account data through mobile devices and tablets, with the launch on the bank's new app.

The app, for Google Android and Apple devices, is available now, and is intended to offer customers a secure and easy to use means of accessing bank data. The app includes real time access to account information, and allows funds transfers, payment of credit card bills, utility payments to DEWA, SEWA and ADWEA and recharging for Etisalat and Salik accounts.

Venky Srikantan, Head of Retail Banking said: "The launch of our new mobile and tablet banking application signifies our drive to ease our customers' banking experience. This service will allow them to carry our retail banking solutions in their pockets, and access them anywhere in the world and at any time.

"We believe that mobile banking is important for our global-minded customer base. In the UAE, where almost half of all residents have a smart phone and mobile phone penetration is amongst the highest in the world, mobile banking is becoming a necessity for consumers. Their busy and often hectic lifestyles, juggling work, family and social commitments, has led to an increased demand for mobile transactional services. With the Barclays mobile and tablet banking we bring Barclays to the customer, wherever they may be," he added.
