A new unit of the MBC Group, the Middle East-based free-to-air satellite broadcaster, has made three investments in internet and gaming start-ups.

MBC Ventures said in a statement that the investments were part of its strategy to take advantage in the growth of multimedia, online gaming and digital in the Middle East and North Africa region.

The MBC unit's objective will be to invest in local talents and will nurture individuals, the statement said.

MBC Ventures said it had partnered with Falafel Games, a multiplayer online game producer operating from the Middle East and China.

Falafel Games has launched Knights of Glory, the first Arabic MMOSG (massive multiplayer online strategy game) inspired by the Arab Conquests.

MBC Ventures' second investment is Aranim Games, a social and mobile game developer based in Jordan.

The third investment has been made in SuperMama.me, the first online parenting community and portal in the Arab World based in Egypt.

It provides trusted parenting information verified by specialists in different fields, in both Arabic and English.
