eGovernment Sharjah improves workflow, streamlines project management
EES upgrades eGovernment Sharjah to Microsoft Project Server 2010 to improve project management
The Department of Information, eGovernment Sharjah, has upgraded its existing Microsoft Project Server 2007 deployment, which it used as a Project management solution, to the newer Project Server 2010, in order to meet pressing performance and capability requirements.
Microsoft Project Server 2007 could not provide comprehensive project and portfolio based reporting. Additionally, tracking resources, cost and time consumption of projects and data level security configuration while tracking project progress from other government departments was also becoming a challenge.
eGovernment Sharjah decided to improve their resource management capabilities and streamline their project management procedures when they sought the help of Emitac Enterprise Solutions(EES). EES provided a comprehensive solution addressing the above requirements by migrating eGovernment Sharjah to Microsoft Project Server 2010 thus offering better ways of planning resource deployment, more features in web client, close interoperation with Microsoft Sharepoint Server 2010 and manage ongoing projects and track new ones.
EES also developed customized graphical reports to show department-wide status reports, with drill down capabilites, project status tracking, issues and risk count etc. A backup solution using an HP Tape library was also part of the implementation.
While one customization provides Project Server 2010 scheduling and time-reporting information, another develops Project Server 2010 reports by querying databases. A third improves the sophistication of the dashboards provided to executives. The fourth takes advantage of improved interoperation, and makes it easier to integrate the information entered in other applications. Overall, the customizations fully adapt Project Server 2010 to the organizations time-reporting process.
With this deployment, eGovernment Sharjah now has automated processes, a simple user interface, more visibility into projects and improved resource management.
