Nawras hires Huawei for network upgrade Nawras Oman has hired Huawei to upgrade its RAN and provide managed services for the telco.

Nawras, Oman's telco has announced that Huawei has been awarded the contract for Nawras' network modernisation and managed services.

Huawei will provide Nawras' Radio Access Network (RAN) and undertake a modernisation of the RAN so that it can accommodate further developments including LTE.

On another note, the parties intend to sign an agreement covering managed services for its fixed and mobile networks increasing efficiency further. Nawras' customers will benefit from better service speed and quality, enhancing their customer experience at all levels.

Capital expenditure on the upgraded radio network and related transmission equipment is anticipated to amount to a total investment of high double-digit million Omani Rials over the next three years.

Huawei has built commercial LTE networks for many of the world's leading telcos.
