Avnet expands distribution alliance with VMware Godwin says Avnet is connecting channel partners to new markets with this deal.

Avnet Technology Solutions, a global IT solutions distribution has expanded its distribution agreement with VMware to include the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Up until now, Avnet had distribution rights to VMware's virtualisation solutions in North America and several countries across Europe. The agreement to extend this partnership to the MENA market means Avnet can now offer VMware's complete portfolio of virtualisation products to its value-added reseller (VAR) base across the region.

In addition, Avnet will also support VARs in the MENA belt with technical, marketing and integration capabilities to drive business opportunities around virtualisation.

"Avnet has a strong presence in the Middle East and Africa, which we believe will add considerable value to VMware in this region," said Jean-Philippe Barleaza, SEMEA channel, alliances and general business director, VMware. "The services and support Avnet provides will enable partners to take their customers to the next level of virtualisation, including management solutions and end-user computing."

Barleaza said by working with Avnet and VMware, channel partners can develop and deliver complete virtualisation solutions that significantly improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of their end customers' IT operations.
