DUCAB has completed the roll out of Alcatel-Lucent IP telephony systems.

The cable supplier and manufacturer has deployed IP telephony solutions to cover 500 users across four facilities, in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The solution, which was evaluated by Alcatel-Lucent partner Al Futtaim Technologies, includes Alcatel-Lucent's OmniPCX Enterprise communications server and IP telephone handsets.

The system replaces an existing analogue PBX, and connects across the company's WAN, to provide voice and media communications, including call handling, unified messaging, and personal assistant features. The system is also integrated with Microsoft Outlook.

In selecting a solution, DUCAB and Al Futtaim focused on the value that a VoIP solution would offer, and also the fact that by using DUCAB's WAN and the Passive Communication Server (PCS) server solution from Alcatel-Lucent, the company would gain additional redundancy on its voice network.
