Sony Gulf FZE appoints new MD Sugiyama previously worked for seven years at Sony Gulf, starting in 1990.

Sony Corporation has announced the appointment of Hiroyasu Sugiyama as managing director of Sony Gulf FZE.

Sugiyama is a 25 year veteran of Sony, having joined the company in 1986. He has held roles with various Sony companies in different territories, including Sony India, Malaysia, Sony Marketing Asia Pacific and Sony Electronics US and the Full High Definition and 3D businesses.

Commenting on his new appointment, Sugiyama said: "It is great to be back in the region after nearly 14 years since I last held office at Sony Gulf. The brand's exponential growth since its arrival in the Middle East has been remarkable. I look forward to further strengthening Sony's market share and its operations across the regional and local market in the various countries of the Middle East and Africa.

"Sony has gained much from the region through understanding the needs of its consumers, surpassing their expectations and offering them the opportunity to enjoy world-class Sony services. I will carry forward this strategy in partnership with our diversified channel and account mix, he added.
