Eros Group, a distributor and retailer in consumer electronics, telecom and allied multi-products in the Middle East region, has revealed that it grew its overall business by 52% during the month long Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF).

The company says the Eros Retail Division grew its business by an exceptional 31% overall during DSF and recorded a 26% growth in sales of its flat panels business.

Niranjan Gidwani, deputy CEO, Eros Group said: "DSF has always been one of Dubai's most well promoted events and this year was no exception. We saw tremendous growth for the group's business at this year's DSF compared to 2011 and that can be attributed to innovation. Every year we strive to introduce new elements into our core characteristics of shopping, making it unique and even more exciting for our customers."

Gidwani said the group's overall business grew by 52% during this year's DSF, adding that among the renowned brands it sells, Samsung alone attained a staggering 49% market share in the flat panel TV business, while Eros Group in conjunction with all the brands it represents in flat panels space gained a market share of close to 60% during the same period.

Gidwani said in the smart phones and mobile phones category, Eros Group sold double the number of phones it sells during a normal month. This, according to Gidwani, made Samsung's mobile market share to go well above the 30%. He pointed out that in the refrigerator category, Hitachi sales grew by an impressive 36% during DSF.

He added that as a group: "We are extremely happy with the performance, positive outlook and results of this year's DSF. Eros Group will continue to remain progressive throughout 2012 and keep our customers enthusiastic with the latest trends and innovation from our prominent brands portfolio."
