Carpet company Al-Sorayai Group has completed the roll out of an Oracle retail solution, to help manage its new HomeStyle stores in Saudi Arabia.

The HomeStyle chain marks a diversification of the company's business into home furnishings retail, and the company deployed Oracle solutions to automate processes, and improve communications with suppliers.

The project comprised Oracle modules including Oracle Retail Merchandising System, Oracle Retail Invoice Matching, Oracle Retail Sales Audit and Oracle Retail Price Management, to co-ordinate merchandising, enhance visibility into inventory and reduce inventory costs, and enhance business decisions on product assortment, pricing and replenishment.

The group also developed a standardized platform for stores based on set Oracle modules, that will provide consistent management and customer experience at each store.

Al-Sorayai Group, with Oracle Partner Network (OPN) Gold partner Versant Technologies, completed the project in six months.

The company said that it selected Oracle over Microsoft and SAP due to Oracle's strong retail functionality, scalability, and integration with existing Oracle e-Business applications.

"Oracle's accelerated implementation tools and in-built best practice has enabled us to deploy a retail platform within six months, which is a major achievement," said Abdulatif Bakhahdlag, group IT Consultant, Al-Sorayai Group. "In addition, the Oracle applications provide a holistic view of our business, enabling us to make decisions that continually improve the customer experience and deliver value to our shareholders, as we grow."

"When launching a new retail concept, the customer experience has to be excellent," said Will O'Brien, vice president EMEA, Oracle Retail. "The Oracle Retail platform enables organisations to optimize their operations, make decisions based on actionable business insights and connect customer interactions to drive that superior experience that will support the growth of the business."
