SAP Middle East and North Africa (MENA) has appointed Ghassan Abu Asba to the role of country sales manager for Kuwait.

Abu Asba will be responsible for driving the country's field sales operations and ensuring accelerated momentum across all verticals in that country. He will report to Gergi Abboud, country manager for SAP Kuwait and Qatar.

Remarking on Abu Asba's appointment, Abboud said: "Kuwait represents a strategic priority for SAP, with businesses across the country seeking to deploy advanced software solutions that will enable them to gain competitive advantage and accelerate their business growth. Ghassan's solid industry and management experience will prove invaluable to SAP as we seek to seize every opportunity ahead and build on our success to date."

Abu Asba is an IT industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience in the Middle East region, including stints as enterprise system manager at Kuwait Computer Company and Kuwait country manager for HP.

In 2007, Abu Asba took on the role as channel manager at Cisco, focusing on Kuwait and Bahrain. Recently, he was regional channel and commercial manager for Juniper in the North Gulf and Levant region.

According to SAP MENA, the company is experiencing a period of robust growth and has ambitious plans going forward. The software vendor has added more than 100 new employees since August 2010 and recently opened new offices in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt and Qatar. Over the last two years, the business applications vendor has double its resources with the majority of headcount focused on solutions delivery. SAP hosts more than 2100 qualified consultants and more than 75 channel partners in the Middle East.

I have been reading quite a lot about SAP of late. They are quite an amazing company really, I didn't realise they covered so many industry's. I saw this Infographic on Twitter which breaks everything down, quite interesting - www.lovehatedata.com/download/love/infographic2
