Banian FZCO seeks to recruit channel partners Banian is readying a number of initiatives to boost its channel business in the region, says Sayed.

Banian FZCO, the sole distributor of Archos range of tablets in the Middle East region has announced plans to grow its business in the retail and traditional reseller channel.

The plan is part of a broader initiative to raise brand awareness and increase the Archos' channel footprint in the Middle East region.

The move, states Banian, is in line with the strategy to strengthen its channel network in the Middle East region. To this end, the distributor says that it's looking to grow its channel by recruiting more partners across the Middle East that will take its solutions to market. Currently, the Archos range of tablets are sold in Sharaf DG.

Asad Sayed, business manager, IT, Banian FZCO Middle East said: preparations to engage more partners are already underway and the company is seeking to recruit resellers selectively.

Sayed added that apart from the partner recruitment drive, the company is also readying a number of channel initiatives that aim to build and provide better support to the reseller and retailer channel in the Middle East.

He said the company is also in discussion with various universities in the Middle East as its 8- and 10-inch range of Archos tablets are suited for students and the education sector. "We have started to sign-up authorised resellers in the region. Our plan is not to have partners for the sake of having them. We would like to see partners grow their business with our range of tablets we believe will add value to their business," he said.

Sayed said despite the dominance that Archos has in Europe's tablet market, the same can't be said in the Middle East. "Even though our offerings have potential in the market, brand recognition and penetration is still low," he noted. "We have recognised this and that's why we want to work with an authorised reseller to reaffirm ourselves and commit to the region For us brand awareness in the Middle East channel is key. We are also looking at improving our overall offerings, support and service to channel partners and end-users in the Middle East."

Sayed said in growing the channel business, Banian is looking at building a channel ecosystem that is suited to the various market dynamics in the region.

In addition, he said Banian through its reseller partners will offer training, incentives and marketing campaigns.
