Sony Ericsson has unveiled the Xperia pro, which features the Mobile Bravia Engine and runs on Android Gingerbread 2.3, in the UAE.

The Xperia pro also has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard with smart functions designed to help enable rapid messaging.

The Xperia pro introduces the ‘Type and Send' functionality that is designed to eliminate the need to open a dedicated app for each type of message, while the Smart keyboard helps trigger predictive messaging automatically when slid out.

The phone comes with preloaded Office Suite Pro, Moxier Pro and MacAfee security.

"Sony Ericsson has always had its finger on the pulse of the audience, constantly gauging their requirements and innovating to meet their dynamic needs. The Xperia pro combines state-of-the-art Sony technology with ergonomic design to offer an exciting smartphone experience. These handsets top the list of gadgets that are every technology lover's delight," said Spyros Guosetis, head of Marketing, Sony Ericsson Middle East.

The Android smartphone also features an 8.1 megapixel camera with Exmor R for mobile sensor, 3.7-inch display with screen resolution of 480 x 854 pixels, GPS, WiFi, an 8GB memory card, 1GHz Snapdragon processor and access to the Android market. Users can also connect to their TV with the HDMI connection and view pictures and videos in HD.

Available at leading electronic stores in the UAE, Xperia pro is priced at AED1,699 and comes in black, red and silver options.
