VIVA Bahrain has partnered with Google to offer customers a Google Gtalk SMS service which is designed to allow users to send SMS messages through their Gmail accounts, to any VIVA number, and reply to the message from mobile handsets.

"VIVA works on establishing partnerships with the biggest companies around the world to offer more to its customers," commented Andrew Hanna, VIVA CCO. "Through this tie-up with Google, VIVA customers can now chat with their friends and family anywhere in the world without the need to even be online."

Users can receive the messages from Gmail for free and reply to them from their VIVA numbers at the standard SMS rate of 25 Fils for Prepaid and 20 Fils for Postpaid.

VIVA users can activate the service by going to Mail settings in their Gmail accounts and choosing ‘Labs', then enabling the ‘SMS in Chat' and ‘SMS in Gadget' options, users can then log in to their accounts and choose ‘Send SMS', insert the name and mobile number of the receiver, and send their message.
