NEC is a very large and solid organisation with a long history of leadership and innovation. The first day I started working with NEC, I had a strong sense of belonging and everybody made me feel welcome.

Daoud Eid, Sales Director, Middle East & North Africa, NEC Unified Solutions.

What’s your career history to date? How did you end up working in Dubai?

I have been working in Dubai since 1994, initially with Al Yousuf Computer & Telecom, one of the leading companies in IT and telecom solutions in the UAE, recently I joined NEC’s regional office.

If you could improve one thing about the channel business what would it be?

This is our biggest challenge - our success depends on having the right partners. We are always working on having a close relationship with our partners in order to provide them with our best support on all levels like product knowledge, technical training, marketing support, and so on.

What product or technology should the channel watch out for this year?

In the highly competitive hospitality market, where customer service and comfort are key to success, IT and telecom solutions are being used extensively to provide hotel management and staff with all the tools to serve their guests better. Our partners and all solution providers will need to stay up to date with all possible technology offerings to provide their/our customers with that competitive edge.

What is your proudest career achievement to date?

Before joining NEC, I was working with a leading supplier of telecom solutions in Dubai, and as a senior manager in that organisation, I was part of many achievements and success stories, that gave me a great sense of achievement.

What is the best piece of advice you have been given?

Honest and true relationships with partners and customers with a personal touch.

What is the biggest mistake you have ever made since working in the IT market?

Not getting out of it early, because once you’re hooked you will not find satisfaction in working in any other field.

What is the biggest challenge facing the Middle East IT channel?

There are many challenges affecting the Middle East channel like availability of infrastructure services which could be due to policies or technology, regional issues and problems, etc.

What’s your favorite thing about the company you work for?

NEC is a very large and solid organisation with a long history of leadership and innovation. The first day I started working with NEC, I had a strong sense of belonging and everybody made me feel welcome.

Sporting events, current affairs, science and technology, travelling.
