Security powerhouse McAfee is providing its solution provider partners playing in the enterprise, SMB and commercial segment an opportunity to get empowered by receiving training that will help them to win new business in the region.

The new initiatives come less than a month after the vendor revealed that it was boosting partner margins by a whopping 25% on new registered deals. The deal registration and channel enablement initiatives are part of McAfee's strategy to increase opportunities for channel partners to make more money selling its solutions in the region.

The channel enablement programme is one of the few bold initiatives that McAfee has unveiled since coming under the umbrella of $44 billion parent company Intel.

McAfee's senior vice president, Worldwide Channels, Alex Thurber said following the recent unveiling and launch of the deal registration programme, the company is now promoting its training and certification programmes. Thurber said McAfee has decided to support partners in the region with an initiative that will accord them a chance to get trained, certified and go out into the market to compete favourably.

Thurber said the empowerment and enablement programme is also aimed at preparing partners for McAfee's soon to be released new products under Intel's Deep Safe vision which aimed to embed security into hardware products. "Through these partner training initiatives, we are encouraging partners to enroll for the Star Trac Programme, an online 3-day sales and pre-sales training programme," he said.

Thurber says because partners sell what they can make money on, it's important that they are equipped with the right knowledge and expertise because solution providers are the feet on the street, who help drive brand and product preference.

He added that part of the company's other focus for the region is to introduce managed security services and cloud-based offerings to channel partners across the region.

McAfee will be launching two new products under Intel's Deep Safe vision at the forthcoming global partner conference which will be held in the USA later this month.
