Data management specialist CommVault says that its solutions provide greater scalability than those of its larger competitors.

The company is spending this year’s GITEX Technology Week convincing potential customers that its Simpana application is the ideal product for any organisation, regardless of their size. “No matter what size customer you are, if you buy Simpana, it will grow with you,” claims Fiona Moon, marketing director, EMEA. “If you make a $50,000 investment, then your company grows into a big enterprise, the product will grow with you. It’s scalable and it’s robust. With some of our competitors, the size you are determines which product you buy,” Moon continues.

“If you grow, either through acquisition or organically, you have to throw that product away and start over with a new solution. That’s disruptive.”

Moon says that this is the key way CommVault differentiates itself from its rivals. “Our competitors are bigger than us, more aggressive, and have bigger market dominance,” she adds. “But we’ve gained credibility through our customer successes, and this show is all about credibility and extending reach.”

Moon asserts that Symantec, one of CommVault’s biggest rivals, lacks compatibility between its individual solutions. “Symantec is one of our major competitors. But if you do business with Symantec, a lot of their products are best of breed but they don’t talk to each other, so you’re giving yourself problems when it comes to running your business.”
