The announcement, made at a ceremony held during GITEX, was attended by English striker Andy Cole, the second-highest goal scorer in Premiere League history, du CEO Osman Sultan and Farid Faraidooni, chief commercial officer, du.

“The partnership with du further extends our coverage to our 56 million fans in the Middle East even further and we’re delighted to have found a partner that can give our supporters in the country a premier service of updates, exclusives and action,” said Manchester United commercial director Richard Arnold.

The two-year contract offers football-loving du customers the opportunity to access exclusive Manchester United content on their mobile devices and is designed to allow fans to follow the team throughout the year.

“We are proud and excited by this partnership deal with the legendary Manchester United Football Club, which allows us to bring a wealth of MU-related content to the dedicated fans amongst our five million customers,” said Faraidooni. “Manchester United is an icon and our sponsorship of the club will open up a world of exclusive privileges to our customers, allowing them to experience more than has ever been possible.”

Manchester United fans using du can now access the latest team images, news, games and even get the chance to meet footballing heroes and legends.

“In recent years, the Club has grown very close links with the Middle East and we know from our visits there that the fans are as loyal and as passionate about the team as anyone.  To be able to address them directly is incredible and the network of deals that we are building up means that more and more fans can feel involved with what happens at United,” said Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson.
