Etisalat touches the Clouds at GITEX

Etisalat is busy showcasing its Cloud computing offering at GITEX Technology Week.

The telco is showcasing all three types of Cloud, consisting of Private Clouds, Hybrid Clouds and Public Clouds. Etisalat is also showcasing how enterprises can leverage the public Cloud and benefit from its Online SaaS Store, which is hosted on its public Cloud, thereby converting their private Clouds into hybrid Clouds, with the highest required level of security built into them. “Specifically, services showcased include managed unified communications, security centric applications, Cloud based information sharing, and online backup service,” says Abdulla Al Ahmad, Acting Senior Vice President, Business Solutions, Etisalat. “Additionally, Etisalat will also be showcasing ERP on-demand, hotel service optimisation system and soon to be launched managed security services solution on the Cloud computing platform.

“The ERP on-demand will provide affordable access to SMBs, helping them to become agile and more competitive in the market,” Ahmad adds.

Ahmad adds that Etisalat views Cloud computing as the next wave of “transformational technology” for individuals, companies and governments which offers many “enticing opportunities”.

Stressing the benefits of Cloud computing for business, Al Ahmad says: “Cloud based services potentially offer several benefits to the organisations in terms of cost and efficiency related benefits that eventually gets passed on to the end-users as well.”
