THURAYA, A leading mobile satellite services operator, aims to affirm its market presence as a leader in its field at GULFCOMMS this year.

The UAE-based company, which offers an entire portfolio of space-based, high-speed data, maritime, voice, tracking and aeronautical communication solutions, views GITEX Technology Week as a not-to-be-missed event.

“It offers the chance to demonstrate our products in person to our wide range of customers, network with the world’s leading players in the technology industry and actively become involved in the conversations and discussions about the future of technology,” says Syed Shahab, Exhibitions and Events Co-ordinator, Thuraya.

“At GITEX, we will be demonstrating a complete range of mobile satellite products and services designed using the latest technology, including announcing some exciting news about upcoming products.

The company will also focus on its satellite-based data service, known as Thuraya IP (pictured above). “This is an industry first, being the world’s most portable solution at a mere A5 size and weighing only 1.3kg,” Shahab says.

He adds that Thuraya will also promote its network, which can automatically re-direct bandwidth to areas where demand is highest to improve network quality. “This makes Thuraya the solution of choice for military, disaster response, comms, media, oil and gas industry and many other large corporations for which communications can quite literally become a matter of life or death,” Shahab says.

Thuraya will also demo its MarinNet Pro product as it intends to build its presence in the maritime sector. Designed in conjunction with Comtech, the product is already “causing a stir” in the sector as the first L-band player to offer a fixed price airtime package. Thuraya claims 70% market share in the mobile satellite handheld market in its 140 country coverage area.
