ALCATEL-LUCENT, one of the world’s biggest telecom vendors, is participating in GULFCOMMS for the first time in 2011.

Alcatel-Lucent will continue to focus on its theme of ‘Change the Conversation’. The scope of the theme is to change the conversation across partners, customers and employees.

“The explosive growth in the use of social media, mobile devices, smart phones and video is changing how we share information,” says Alain Penel, Vice President, Sales and Support, Middle East and Africa region.

He adds that Alcatel-Lucent will focus on collaboration, and also the way in which communication tools that have been adopted by consumers can be used by enterprises. This is a vision that is supported by Alcatel-Lucent’s OpenTouch platform, which drives collaborative conversations.

“Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise will showcase various solutions that make communications more collaborative within an enterprise environment, irrespective of the physical presence of representatives,” says Penel.

“This includes OpenTouch’s ability to seamlessly transfer calls between devices and media, moving from a smartphone to a deskphone, or upscaling a conversation from voice to video. This converged multimedia communications suite helps turn enterprise comms into collaborative conversations and business services,” he continues.

The vendor will also showcase its data centre solutions and regular live shows will be held around its interactive whiteboard in combination with video collaboration and its vision of the immersive communications of the future.
