Asus Eee PC 1015PW

Asus says its Eee PC 1015PW ‘makes waves in style' and given its purple finish and seashell-textured lid, the 1015PW had no trouble drawing attention to itself. Asus describes the colour as ‘Purple Rain'.

The 1015PW is ready for travel out of the box. Running our intensive Imtec Battery Mark benchmark the machine out lasted all of the other netbooks with the exception of its bigger, more expensive brother, the Asus Eee PC 1215P.

That said, the 1015PW has its own trump card in weight because whereas the Eee PC 1215P weighs 1.488kg, the former weighs just 1.294kg. If you want a light, long-lasting
machine the 1015PW is the machine for you.

Moving to application performance the 1015PW returned similar results when compared to the other machines here owing to its Atom N570 processor, 2GB of memory and Intel HD graphics adapter.  The only netbook that managed to distinguish itself with slightly better performance across the board was HP's Mini 210.

Like its slightly heavier counterpart, the 1015PW is built well and offers a manual switch that allows you to turn on or turn off the webcam as well. While this may seem like an odd addip[ition, given that your PC could be taken over by a hacker or Trojan via the web, this switch is the only way to make 100% certain that no one is spying on you when you don't know it.
