Brocade hopes to bolster market awareness of its flagship Ethernet fabrics range during this year’s GITEX Technology Week.

Specifically, the US-based vendor will use the Dubai event to showcase its latest Virtual Cluster Switching solutions, which Brocade claims are ideal for addressing the requirements of virtualised data centres.

The switches are specifically designed to improve network utilisation, maximise application availability, increase scalability and simplify network architectures for highly-virtualised data centres.

However, Brocade will also take the opportunity to tout its ServerIron ADX series of high-performance application delivery controllers, which provide a wide range of optimisation functions aimed at ensuring reliability in the delivery of mission critical applications. These switches also act as a seamless gateway between existing IPv4 networks and new ones built with IPv6, Brocade claims. The company believes GITEX provides a perfect opportunity to reach customers.

“Over the past years, we have seen an improvement in the quality of people that the show is attracting and with us participating in the Cloud Confex, it should be a good opportunity for us to meet key decision makers in the market we are targeting,” says Hassan Hamadani, Marketing and Business Development Manager, Emerging Markets at Brocade.

“In that sense, GITEX is an important event in our calendar.”

Brocade says that it currently dominates the Middle East market for storage area networking, claiming a market share of approximately 72%. The vendor is now eager to improve its share in the IP space, and will target verticals including healthcare, education, finance and service providers.
