Kaspersky Lab says it will be celebrating taking the lead in local anti-malware software markets at this year's GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK.

The security software vendor has rapidly risen to dominance in the UAE consumer retail sales sector, with a 37% market share by value and a 38% share by volume, according to the latest figures from IDC.

Kaspersky Lab was first in both market share categories, according to the figures, by a margin of 11% and 6% from the second most popular vendor respectively. Tarek Kuzbari, managing director of Kaspersky Lab Middle East, said that GITEX has been instrumental in helping the vendor build its brand in the region. "GITEX helped us in promoting Kaspersky to our Middle Eastern targets - this is the fourth year in a row we are participating, and we have high expectations as always," he says. "GITEX is the gateway to the Middle East, the world's fastest emerging, and investment ready. ICT market. and it has always attracted the biggest names in the IT sector. We are proud to be associated with such an event."

The company will be showcasing its range of security solutions for consumer and business users at the show, which include solutions for the protection of file servers and data storage systems running Windows, Linux and Novell NetWare operating systems, Microsoft Exchange and IBM Lotus Domino groupware servers.

Kaspersky will also look to get valuable customer input on its technologies from customers at GITEX, as well as extend its channel network.

"As a part of for participation in the current GITEX we hope we meet with potential customers and recruit more channel partners. Also GITEX is an excellent opportunity to present the latest products and features from our R&D team to our customers and listen to their feedback on existing technologies," Kuzbari said.
