Kinect Star Wars for the Xbox 360 won't release in time for the holiday season has learned. News from Microsoft suggests the game will now probably hit shelves in 2012. Microsoft told OXM, Xbox's official magazine that the game yet has to reach its potential

The Limited Edition Star Wars Xbox 360 console will also be pushed forward to coincide with the game's launch.

"Microsoft and LucasArts have elected to move the launch of Kinect Star Wars beyond holiday 2011 to ensure the full potential of this title is realized," a spokesperson said. "This move applies to both the Kinect Star Wars stand-alone game and the Kinect Star Wars Limited Edition Console. We will communicate additional timing information at a later date."

The Kinect platform has a lot riding on the Star Wars title and it certainly is good that LucasArts and Microsoft are taking their time to get it right.

"Early code of the game has been marked by problems with lag and gesture recognition which could have proved fatal had they appeared in the finished game," said a report on the OXM website.
