Lenovo has announced the release of its IdeaPad Tablet K1 for consumers in the UAE. The device is Lenovo's first mobile internet device featuring the Android 3.1 platform.

"Tablets are extremely personal technology devices. That's why we've created a family of tablets that has something for everyone, including entertainment-friendly features and content for consumers, or business-friendly features to enhance productivity for professionals as well as security and manageability for IT Managers," said Jack Lee, vice president Lenovo Group and general manager for Lenovo Middle East and Africa. "The IdeaPad Tablet K1 is the first of our new tablet family to launch in the UAE market, providing a device that meets the needs of our customers in the UAE for entertainment and leisure use."

The Android-powered Lenovo tablet has access to over 250,000 apps in the Android Market as well as apps tested for the Lenovo device in the Lenovo App Shop.

According to Lenovo, its new tablets feature Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core mobile processors with built-in Flash, console-quality gaming, and low power consumption for improved battery life.

"The Tegra 2 dual core processor is the perfect fit for Lenovo's tablets," said Michael Rayfield, general manager, Mobile Business, Nvidia. "Consumers can now enjoy the whole web with Flash, console quality gaming and high definition video. These are a must have for today's tablets."

The tablet weighs 740g and has a HD display, a 2mp front-facing camera and 5mp rear-facing camera, integrated Bluetooth and 802.11 Wi-Fi connectivity.

The IdeaPad Tablet K1 also features a ‘Home' button and Lenovo ‘Launch Zone' application designed to allow users to easily access their most frequent functions like email, music and web browsing.

The IdeaPad comes loaded with more than 30 apps from partners such as Adobe, Electronic Arts, Rovio, Zinio, Dataviz, and others including favourites like Angry Birds and the full-version of Documents to Go.

Users can also access their social networking through Lenovo's SocialTouch app, which effectively creates a one-stop social connection.
