Game developer Croteam and publisher Devolver Digital have announced that Serious Sam 3: BFE will release on the PC platform on October 18.

Serious Sam 3 is a prequel to Serious Sam: The First Encounter and takes place in 22nd century Egypt. The game sees the return of adversaries like the Headless Kamikaze and Gnaar, as well as new opponents such as the Scrapjack and Khnum.

Croteam has also added a number of new gameplay features to the forthcoming game with the protagonist Sam receiving a range of new melee moves. The game also offers cooperative play that allows as many as 16 players to game simultaneously.

Serious Sam 3: BFE will be available for purchase via retail and digital distribution. The game will also be sold as a Deluxe Edition, which is expected to carry a retail price of US $50. The standard game is said to command a price tag of $40. The Deluxe Edition will feature a digital art book, new multiplayer skins, a scope for the Devastator weapon and users will also be allowed to download the two original Serious Sam games.

The game will also be released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 though no announcement was made regarding the launch date on those gaming platforms.
