Samsung has launched a new range of Serial ATA 3.0 compliant SSDs known as the PM830. The SSD range is designed for notebooks and can be had with capacities ranging from 128GB to 512GB.

"Samsung's new line up of advanced SSDs will raise the performance bar to the next level for ultra-slim notebooks and tablets and accelerate growth of the market for high-performance SSDs," said Wanhoon Hong, Executive Vice President, Memory Sales & Marketing, Device Solutions, Samsung Electronics. "The industry is expected to quickly embrace SATA 6Gb/s SSDs, which also will help increase market interest in 256GB and higher densities significantly."

The SSD range is said to offer up to 500MB/sec read rates and sequential write speeds of up to 350MB/sec. The PM830 SSDs features 20nm 32GB MLC NAND memory chips. The SSD drives will also be equipped with 256-bit AES encryption.

The drive is already shipping to OEM customers with full retail availability expected to follow shortly.
