Specialist Cisco solutions distributor Comstor ME, has added ‘marketing as a service' (MaaS) to its partner offerings in the region. Comstor's MaaS offering, says the company, is based on the realisation and understanding of reseller needs to have marketing support in the current economic situation.

The distributor states that the model was developed based on its own findings of an extensive survey conducted by the company earlier this year and will be offered as part of a strategy to provide effective value added services to partners.

Renton D'Souza, divisional director, Comstor ME, said the company plans to take this new service offering to all its partners across the Middle East. "Comstor's MaaS is aimed at supporting all our partners, many of whom have expressed the need for our expertise in making their Marketing activities highly effective. We have offered a wide variety of services under MaaS keeping in mind the needs of our partners," he said.

According to company, the latest offering of MaaS synchronises with the Westcon Group's expanded value forward approach called the Six Step Cycle which is based on the premise that any reseller when selling to an end-user goes through six uniquely identifiable steps namely preparation, approach, discovery, solution design, presentation and implementation.

Comstor adds that the MaaS offerings aim at enabling the reseller during the approach phase by assisting them in providing marketing services which are highly focused and in alignment with the vendor priorities as well as the needs of the end-user.

Under this initiative, Comstor is offering channel partners the following services: strategic management and business plans, campaign management, design services, webinar and tele marketing services and database management.

Comstor says through its keen understanding of the ICT industry as well as a highly developed marketing and support structure, Comstor's MaaS provides marketing services to assist resellers with one off projects or tailored marketing services that suit their needs.

"It brings us immense pleasure to see that Comstor has taken a step in making their value added service offerings even more helpful. We are really looking forward to availing the services offered by Comstor's MaaS," said Koshy Oommen, senior manager, Network and Information Security, Intertec Systems, a Comstor partner.

When margins are getting thinner, MaaS will strain distributors resources. On the flip side the most important question is how, Comstors will charge for such services and how much $ value would partners attach to Comstors's services.
Having said that MaaS should be left to specialized marketing enterprises else distributors will dilute its focus and energy.
