Apple is being sued for what seems to be another patent infringement case. This time it's related to Mac OS X's fast boot feature.

The patent which involves the quick start of an operating system (OS) is owned by a company called Operating System Solutions (OSS). However, the original owner of the patent was LG Electronics.

The patent involves ‘a method for fast booting a computer system' comprising of several specific steps.

OSS is likely just trying to cash in despite having no real intention to use the technology. It is however interesting that LG once owned the patent in question, since LG has not been a target of Apple's recent legal onslaught against Samsung, HTC and Google in the smartphone market.

LG produces Android devices as well and has been quite successful with its Optimus range of Android smartphones and tablets. At this point it is not clear if LG is involved in the lawsuit in anyway.
