Nyko Technologies has announced its ‘Zoom' for Kinect will be available by August 23rd in North America, and will be priced at US $29.99.

The Zoom ships with proprietary lenses and a clip-on design that allows gamers to enjoy Microsoft Kinect games in 40% less space. The setup requires no extra batteries or a power source and is said to be perfect for small living rooms or dorms. The Zoom essentially allows two people to play all Kinect games in a space that would otherwise only be able to accommodate one person.

"The success of the Zoom at E3 was outstanding and we are incredibly excited to help expand the already thriving fan base of Kinect gamers, allowing even more people to enjoy the thrills of being the controller," said Chris Arbogast, Director of Marketing at Nyko Technologies.

Arbogast continued, "We are also proud to be working with all of our retail partners on our first ever simultaneous national launch for an accessory. Come August 23rd you will be able to find the Zoom on store shelves everywhere."

The firm has taken out multiple patents to ensure that the Zoom is protected and that it will be the first and only space reducing lens for Kinect.

Official Middle East availability is uncertain though Windows Middle East reckons third parties will import and resell the Zoom in the months following the launch.
