Huawei only recently entered the handheld device market and will likely release the IDEOS S7 Slim later in the year. While pricing has yet to be announced, Internet chatter points to a price around the US $300 mark, which we think is ideal for this very capable device.
The Slim sports a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen which while not the best in terms of pixel density and sharpness, owing to its 800 x 480 pixel resolution, is bright, boasts solid contrast and is responsive to quick movements and light touches. This makes using the device to browse the web, read books or respond to e-mails a doddle.
Given that the device will likely be launched with an aggressive price tag we weren't surprised to find that it runs Google's Android 2.2 OS. Huawei has tinkered with the OS' skin, which we found made the OS feel more suited to tablets. Honeycomb is still the way to go however, if you want an Apple-like tablet experience.
The S7 is quite a handsome device that feels solidly built in hand and so could easily pass for a premium product.
The IDEOS requires that you remove one side of its rear cover to gain access to its SIM card slot, which is located under a large removable battery. This makes the S7 unique because, unlike all the other devices in our July 2011 grouptest, you can actually replace the battery pack with a new one, when the old one fails.

Pros: HD screen, Front and rear camera, categories established, screen sensitivity is sensitive but not too sensitive (Perfect), wifi range is great, widgets are stylish and helpful
Cons: must factory reboot before using it, narrow screen, low quality camera, notifications are not helpful
Good for those who are searching for an easy-to-use, durable tablet. The tablet, itself, has nothing to the point of "outstanding" but is great for those not looking to pay an arm and a leg for a tablet. 3/5 rating for me :)
